i am really ineterested but looking through the site (D2Pro) there are so few instructions and before/after shots or anything that would provide with you assurance its going to work .... not sure!

It is a proven chip and is the latest one out and fully upgradable. It replaces the older D2Ckey. The D2pro chip is designed for the latest Wiis (different chips inside) so you will have to check your serial number to see if your board is a D2C chipset or an earlier one.

If its an ealier one you may have to buy a different chip which I can probably still get cheap.

The chip will not need to be soldered to your Wii and will be fully removable. It will need to be soldered to the Wiiclip but I can do that so it just ends up being a plug and play Wink.

wait ... so when you say it replaces the old DC2chip, does that mean that this new D2pro does not go straight onto the board? I only got my Wii in January so would have thought it to be new one

This chip is the latest chip, it replaces the old D2Ckey.

It does go straight on the board with no soldering using the Wiiclip. Of course the chip needs to be soldered onto the clip but once that is done it will simply piggy back onto your original chip.

I agree if you got it in Jan it should be the latest version, check your serial number and see if it is a D2C board in your Wii. If it is then the D2pro chip is the one for you.

Do some research on Google and it should all make sense. thumb

ok i'm all checked up on it now and see whats you mean...a lot of people saying the wiiclip is pretty unreliable and bridges too easily ... i guess really its all down to the standard at which the D2Ckey is soldered onto the clip (which is where you come in Paul) but it somes a bit hit and miss!?

If push came to shove i'd put my name down but id rather wait and see what quality turns out to be?

The quality will be spot on, the unreliability bit probably comes in to play when the chip piggy backs the original chip because it clips over and relies on contact not solder. This is one of the selling points of the Wii clips because it makes for easy installation. If you do get a weak contact simply reseat it.

The chip will be soldered onto the clip so there will be no problems there. If you wanted to solder directly onto your Wii you would not have any issues with loose contacts, which i am guessing the reliability comes into it. I am not sure what your research uncovered. Then you wouldn't need the Wiiclip.

Personally I like the idea of the Wiiclip.

sure a lot of install pics/videos where people kept playing with the case remaining opened ... at the same time i have read loads of negative comments saying that this only works in the case is left open and that when you close it back up it won't work ...

sounds like something is touching it sounded by and the wiiclip clips direct onto the D2C IC so there is not that much room to reseat it to be honest!?

Also Paul, was looking at like wii d/l's and they talk of if your firmware rejects the disc then it "bricks your wii"??

Then it sounds like they haven't fitted the Wiiclip properly to be honest. It comes with a cover to prevent it shorting on the case and it comes with a protective label for the underneath. When it clips onto the D2C IC it should be pretty secure. Even if it is a secure fit it could still be removed and reseated if you had any problems, which I highly doubt. Should not make any difference whether the cover is on or off, so I can only assume they have not used the covers provided, either that or they are numpty's.

Yes "bricking" can occur with some chips but the D2pro chip is the latest out and has been fully tested on the firmware. As it is the best and most expensive chip out there I would say it would be pretty resiliant. If the Wii firmware was upgraded at any point I suppose there is a small risk, but to be honest it is one I am happy to take as the wii chip will simply unplug and leave no trace meaning a bricked Wii can be easily sorted Wink.
